The Hotel lays in a very nice location, very close to the downtown. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the restaurant could be better, there are a lot of staff doing nothing. The price is acceptable because the location and the plenty space in the rooms. Say to them a complementary water bottle will be very nice.

Next to subway, local marketplace, and good clean chinese fast-food resturant (Yong He). About a 10-minute walk to the train station. Also close to New World Shopping Mall, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Starbucks. (But with the coffee at Starbucks ranging from 12-20 yuan it's practially the same price as back home, and very expensive by local standards. We opted for buying instant coffee and bottled water from the market next door and having coffee in our room.) The small dumpling/noodle resturant next door is always full, and has windows around the kithen so you can see it's clean.
A couple of times the front desk was "too busy" to exchange money for us, but when the manager was present the service was very good.
The subway is pretty convenient to get to most places, but there are always taxis stationed in front of the hotel to go to the Summer Palace or take a day trip to the Great Wall (Renting a taxi for a day should be around 400 yuan, but the driver will tell you 800. Ask for 400 and he'll say no. Just say, "No" and start walking across the street to Novotel, and he'll follow after you and say 400 is OK.) |
