This hotel was not at all how it was portrayed on the internet. It looked tired and in need of a major refit. I had to change rooms on the second day because the air con did not work. I asked for a lake view, but they would have had to cut down a lot of trees to make that wish come true. Had to visit the local Sheraton to get a decent Western meal. Dont be fooled by how attractive it looks on the internet. All in all, a bit of a dissapointment. The travel staff were very helpful in booking on-going air tickets though. |

(Please note - have only given scores for facilities used).
A large rambling hotel covering 3 separate buildings. Would simply describe this hotel as practical and functional. In saying that the location was lovely. The city centre is a 10/15 minute walk away, but a beautiful walk, along the shores of the lake. Would far rather stay here than a hotel actually in the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, but forget the "western" breakfast on offer, it was pretty awful. But as it was not included in the room price (+20 rmb), you are far better taking the lovely walk to the city and stopping at one of the coffee bars by the lake and taking breakfast there. Not the prettiest hotel we have stayed in, but if we go to Guilin again, we will stay there again, just for the clean and functional room and the location.

This hotel was quite good in most aspects but failed very badly in the area of their staff. I have become used to indifferent service in many places in China, but this was the worst by far. Staff seemed, at the best, indifferent, and at the worst, incompetent. I was often ignored completely and requests were just overlooked or forgotten. Wrong information was given on several occasions (even though we spoke good Chinese) and everything seemed to be too much trouble. Staff in the breakfast restaurant were extremely poor, as were the front desk personnel. The only exceptions were the business centre and housekeeping staff.
The visit was further spoilt by the renovations which happened for the entire week, including one night until 1 am.
Apart from that, the hotel is well located and rooms are reasonable and clean with most things working properly. Apart from hanging space there is little storage for clothes however.
I had a deluxe room and, even with the Sinohotel rate, it was a bit dear for the value.
