this was a great place to stay after we had a bad experience in xian! it restored us after a long trip through polluted areas of china. the food was fine, although we would suggest that the guest be allowed to pick their own food at the buffet for breakfast..., the rooms very comfortable, the location hard to beat right across longmen caves and the staff was super friendly and competent. Our children enjoyed the computer access in the rooms as well. we were very well taken care of. even though this hotel was not cheap compared with others we highly recommend it! |

We stayed at Dongshan Hotel in Longmen near the city Luoyang, China, for 3 nights in July 2007 and we can recommend it very much. The hotel gives a luxurios impression and has a very beautiful and romantic appearance – small buildings in a Chinese garden landscape. Our room was absolutely clean and very inviting with wooden floor and furniture. There even was a separate drinking water supply in the bathroom. The hotel restaurant is one of the best we had during our China trip. The only challenge: except the assistant manager, there was nobody who spoke just a single word English – so, if you don’t speak Chinese, be equipped with translation lists, paper & pencil and communication creativity! However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is fine: surrounded by trees and green, five minutes walking to the famous Longmen caves (see: http://www.longmen.com/en/tourist.html - print this online map on paper and take it with you to Longmen, you can’t buy this map in Longmen!).
