Comment we have stayed at the ChuangYe Hotel a few times. The rooms are fine. The location is excellent. The staff are very good.

Comment have stayed here a few times, using the cheaper rate rooms. Business/Restaurant/Leisure facilities not tried. GOOD POINTS: handy to tourist/shopping areas. cheap room rates. BAD POINTS: bad plumbing drainage throughout hotel, bad smells from bathroom at night, toilets also often overflow (the wastebin next to the toilet is apparently where all paper should go) staff don't speak any english, although they will call an english-speaking employee over if you have problems. surrounding area is very poorly lit at night.

Comment I stayed in one of the lowest-cost rooms for five nights. Though not large, the room was clean, well-furnished, and comfortable. The only drawback was that it did not have a window, but the staff advised me of that upon check-in and offered an upgrade to a slightly higher price room with a window which I declined. I did not use the restaurant or any leisure or business facilities (if there are any) so can't rate those. I did use the in-room adsl Internet access (via ethernet cable using your own notebook) which seemed a bit pricey at 20 RMB per day but worked fine. No problems with the service or staff attitude. I found the location very near the Bund quite convenient for my explorations about the city. Overall, I found it an excellent value and would definately stay there again.
