First, the hotel doesn't face St. Sophia Church. The church is about a 10-15 walk SE. The train station is ten minutes by taxi (and watch the taxis in this town.)But it is about a five-minute walk to the Ice Sculpture park and probably the most convenient hotel downtown for theat purpose. The front desk staff adn other service types were very friendly but I didn't speak English is three days there so be forewarned. The rooms are as typical Chinese 3-star as you can get--clean but well-worn. No internet on site makes it a bitch and the travel service asked the most expensive service fee of anywhere I have traveled in the country. (I live in Beijing by the way.)Ended up going to the train station myself to buy tickets. Overall, you could do a lot worse and I would stay there again. |

I was pleased with 95% of everything...clean room, plenty of hot water, room was warm (in spite of cold weather outside), maid service excellent,tea and thermos'of hot water provided as indicated on the internet(did not use swimming pool or other services so i can't comment)..Here is a suggestion: it would be good business if those working on the front desk would smile and just be more friendly ..however, they were efficient; also , one other point but probably one cannot rectify the problem. We could hear the people in the next room, particularly if they were talking into their cell phone (when they tended to raise their voices). A pleasant surprise was the excellent location of the hotel! It was across from the ice sculpture park and steps from the pedestrian mall ...and not too far from the river !! all in all, i was most pleased with the accomodation!! |
