Comment The hotel has an excellent location at the lake. A beautiful 10 min. walk takes you to the central square in Guilin. Our room was OK nothing fancy but clean, with an ordinary bathroom for this class of hotel, TV with several English speaking channels. A ticket service arranged our Li cruise excursion. Few of the staff spoke English. The breakfast buffet was mediocre, with little choice of Western food, and coffee had to be ordered extra. Didn't use the leisure facilities. Definitely good value for money if you don't want luxury.

Comment This hotel was not at all how it was portrayed on the internet. It looked tired and in need of a major refit. I had to change rooms on the second day because the air con did not work. I asked for a lake view, but they would have had to cut down a lot of trees to make that wish come true. Had to visit the local Sheraton to get a decent Western meal. Dont be fooled by how attractive it looks on the internet. All in all, a bit of a dissapointment. The travel staff were very helpful in booking on-going air tickets though.

Comment (Please note - have only given scores for facilities used). A large rambling hotel covering 3 separate buildings. Would simply describe this hotel as practical and functional. In saying that the location was lovely. The city centre is a 10/15 minute walk away, but a beautiful walk, along the shores of the lake. Would far rather stay here than a hotel actually in the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, but forget the "western" breakfast on offer, it was pretty awful. But as it was not included in the room price (+20 rmb), you are far better taking the lovely walk to the city and stopping at one of the coffee bars by the lake and taking breakfast there. Not the prettiest hotel we have stayed in, but if we go to Guilin again, we will stay there again, just for the clean and functional room and the location. John & Merrie Weldon (Oct 06)
