The Xixi Youyi Hotel (Xixi youyi jiudian) is a 4-star hotel situated in the Xixi Friendship Department Store, at the prosperous Xidan business area. There are shopping centers under 8F floor of the hotel's building.

We found this hotel to be of the standard we expected, with a good sized room and facilities. Hotel is located close to the Xidan Shopping Centre and near the major attractions in Beijing. Would be happy to stay here again. |

The hotel has an excellent location - a ten-minute walk north of Xidan Subway Station in downtown Beijing. Xidan is a superb place to be based as the nearby CAAC office is the terminus for one of the airport bus lines. The area around Xidan is bustling with shops, cheap eats, and a couple of Starbucks. Tiananmen is within walking distance.
The rooms are lovely with newish looking furniture, no scuffs or cigarette burns. I stayed in a room facing the courtyard, not the street, and it was very quiet.
However, I was not pleased that the hotel apparently does not automatically change sheets between guests. I arrived while a staff member was cleaning my room. He simply remade the bed with the same linens used by previous guest.
I was also surprised and disappointed that there are no foreign language channels available on TV. I've stayed in other 4-star hotels in Beijing and elsewhere in China, and virtually every other hotel had at least a movie channel or CNN. This hotel didn't even have CCTV-9, the English channel of China Central Television.
Previously, I had stayed at the Howard Johnson Paragon near the main railway station. Their standard rooms aren't quite as swanky, and noise can be a problem - outside rooms cop street noise and inside rooms have music from the courtyard restaurant. However, HoJo does have a good selection of foreign TV stations, and it is also centrally located, near both subway lines, and within walking distance of shopping, good eating, and Starbucks.
HoJos is also about $15 cheaper for a standard twin.
Next time, I will go back to HoJos. |

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel – the room was huge, and the staff were friendly.
