The Beijing Lu Song Yuan Hotel lies in the center of the ancient city, an old-styled "Hutong" (Mongolian for water well) in the eastern part of the city. It is surrounded by historical buildings built since Kublai Khan's Yuan Dynasty, and much of the buildings built from the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties are still preserved today.
Hutongs and quadrangles are typical Beijing architectural structures featured here. Hutongs are ancient styled lanes unique to Beijing. Quadrangles are the main structures inside hutongs.
The hotel is nominated as "the most distinctive courtyard" in 2009 by Beijing Tourism Industry Association.

The Lusongyuan Hotel has 50-rooms including 2 suites featuring historical period styling. Our Lobby Lounge offers tea and coffee during the day. Besides a continental breakfast, it also offers traditional Beijing cuisine: Peking duck, dumpling, noodles, hot pots, etc.
The Lusongyuan Hotel has not only preserved traditional architecture, but also the artistic ancient way of life so you can experience the traditional Beijing customs.
There are teahouses in the courtyard, studies in the ancient classics, and open areas for Taiji and chess playing. During the Spring and Summer, you can also listen to the pleasant sound of birds singing in the courtyard.

The Beijing Lusongyuan is one of the most pleasant hotels that I know in downtown Beijing. It is really quiet but also close to the restaurant, shop and cafe area. Its courtyard, where one can have breakfast outside and also do some laptop work, is wonderful. Breakfast is a treat if you like Chinese-style breakfast with dumplings, fried rice etc. Lots of fruits too. The European-style breakfast was not as tempting. WLan worked most of the time in the courtyard, and ethernet worked in the room. I had a promotion room, which meant more space for less money. The regular price for that is quite high (over 800 RMB), and the smaller rooms are really small. Rooms have thin walls, which can be problem if one has noisy neighbours (I didn't). The bigger rooms have a terrace door to a small courtyard (if you stay downstairs). Staff was friendly, as was the manager. Daily cleaning (bedding, bathroom) was o.k. - the rooms could have needed some more profound vacuuming and cleaning, so if you're picky about dirty carpets, this is not your place. If you value a beautiful location, friendly staff and courtyard style, there are few hotels in the area where you get the same for the same amount of money! |
