So u really want to hear my story about my stay in the Zhong Xie Hotel?.
My communication with Sinohotel.com did not inform me that the Zhong Xie hotel did not accept credit card. I have a tough time to check-in in Zhong Xie hotel bcoz they insist on cash payment instead of credit card. I have been to several places around the world like Amsterdam, London, Bali, Shanghai etc, but the hotels in these places accept credit card. As a a foreign traveller, i feel it is unsafe to carry large amount of cash with me. So i only brought limited amount of chinese RMB with me. I brought two credt cards, VISA and Mastercard to pay for the hotels, but unfortunately they (ZhongXie hotel staff) do not accept credit card but insist me to pay RMB 2300 if I want to stay at the hotel (RMB340 is the deposit, they will return upon checkin out) I have Malaysian Money, they refused to accept, I asked them to take me to money changer, they dont understand what am talking about. They asked me to withdraw from ATM machine, I tried but failed. ..
Because of that, i have to cut short of my stay at ZhongXie hotel and changed to cheaper hotel near by. For your information I have to cancel my tour to Panda House, Hutong etc, so that I have enough money to pay Zhong xie hotel. After negotiation with the hotel manager, he requested me to pay RMB300 per night, until i got to change Malaysian money to pay for the rest of my stay in ZhongXie. I paid my five nights stay at Zhong Xie hotel on the daily basis. Unfortunately, I brought little Malaysia money, and the Bank of China do not accept Malaysian money.. I am so dissappointed. They only accept Singapore or US currency. I dont have US or Singapore money with me. I brought a young daughter with me and I am a woman. I feel so unhappy.
Luckily I met several nice people in Beijing ...who helped me to look for cheaper hotels. Infact one of the University student whom I met , he is a Muslim, offer his accomodation for free. But I have to refuse coz I dont feel it is nice of me to do that. On top of that Zhong Xie hotel did not allow me to make phone calls from the hotel room even after I told them I want to make local call to China itself and not to my home country in Malaysia. I need to communicate with Mr. John Meng. He is the person who arrange the tour . My experience staying in Zhong Xie is not good.
At last I have to purchase a phone card and contact Mr. John Meng from a public telephone.
Another instance, I need to borrow an iron to iron my clothes to attend a conference in Friendship hotel,.. Zhong Xie hotel asked me to pay RMB100 to use the iron and the ironing board. That is ridiculous. In Malaysia, if u stay in Malaysia hotel, the housekeeping people would provide u the iron to iron clothes without asking for any deposit. The hotels in Malaysia also never asked for a deposit to check-in at the hotels. What a bad experience i have at Zhong Xie.
If u ask me whether I would stay in zhong Xie hotel again? My answer is 'NO'.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone either.
That is my explanation. I hope u understand now, why I have to check-out earlier that expected.
